It is with great sadness we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Robert Mackenzie Abbott on Friday, August 9, 2013 at the age of 66 years. Dad was predeceased by his father Darwin and brother Ken in 1987 and his mother Gladys in 2010 and special friend Sharon in 2001. He is survived by his four daughters, Coralee Abbott (Mike Dahlen), Andrea Dipple (Scott), Elaine Boles (Mike) and Diana Abbott (Mike Kozak) and our children Roan, Austin and Caleb Dahlen, Jordyn, Riley and Quinn Dipple, Reed, Lily and Hayden Boles and our mom Blennda Logel. He is also survived by his sister, Eldonna Waddell and her children Rob and Kevin Waddell and families, sister-in-law Lois Abbott and her children David and Sylvia and families. Dad was born in Rosetown on October 20, 1946 to Darwin and Gladys (née Mackenzie) Abbott. He attended school in Herschel and Mount Royal College in Calgary. Our Dad was always willing to lend a hand to all his neighbours and friends, generous of his time and giving to a fault. Dad was involved in many sports but particularly loved ball and hockey. Dad farmed until he was diagnosed with MS in the late 90's. He spent his time travelling around, he knew every back road in the country. He had every R.M map memorized. Dad liked to spend the seeding and harvest days assisting Scott and John and other farmers in the area by helping them move vehicles. Dad will be missed most for his quick wit, sarcastic humor and constant razzing. He loved to hear of his grandchildren's sport endeavours and believed all children should be involved. Dad was a proud, humble man who's final wishes were for there to be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations be made to the Dodsland Community Sports Center.
