MACDONALD, Rory James
1951 - 2013
Rory James MacDonald was born in Regina on January 22, 1951. Rory was predeceased by his father James MacDonald in 1972 and his mother Marguerite Jackson in 2009. Left to mourn are his wife, Cathy, sons Shaun (Cheryl), Scott (Mandy) and daughter Brenna (Trevor); his sisters Jackie Strickland and Bobbi MacDonald and brother Charles (Liz); brother-in-law Bob Dudar (Betty), and sisters-in-law Eleanor Dudar (Rob)and Darlene Dudar; grandchildren Jade, James, Kiana and Declan as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Rory moved to Saskatoon as a very young child where he lived all his life except for a brief time on the family's acreage near Warman.
Rory loved many things: food, cooking, music, camping, landscaping, and all animals, especially dogs. Hockey was a special passion: one year he played on three teams, later he coached minor hockey, did fundraising, and served on the Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association Executive.
Rory had many careers: Canadian Air Force, restaurant manager, cook, electrician, courier driver, parking ticket patroller, and "Mr. Mom" when his family was young.
Rory struggled with multiple health issues and severe chronic pain. On January 2, 2013, Rory was finally freed at last. Flowers gratefully declined. People may donate to any charity of their choice in Rory's memory: Juvenile Arthritis (110-2550 - 12th Ave., Regina, Sk S4P 3X1), Canadian Mental Health Association (1301 Ave. P. N., Saskatoon, Sk S7L 2X1), and Arthritis Society (1815 Lorne Ave., Saskatoon, Sk S7H 1Y5).
The family gives its heartfelt thanks to the many doctors, nurses, and other health care workers who helped Rory over many years.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2 pm at Martens Warman Funeral Home, 402 Central St. W., Warman, Sk. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 to 1:30 pm. Arrangements are in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (934-4888).
