Tom McPherson, age 54, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Stensrud Care Home in Saskatoon. He was born at Outlook, Saskatchewan on October 19, 1963 the fourth child of Rae and Ruth McPherson. Together Rae and Ruth, with others in the community with handicapped children, began pushing for better educational opportunities for challenged children like Tom. As vocational training and opportunities developed, Tom became an employee of SARCAN as the recycling became the norm, and he worked there for many years. As Variety Place grew, and with it residential and vocational opportunities Tom became a permanent resident, in what has become the best facility of it’s kind in Saskatchewan. His favourite phrases became “are you sure?”, and “I am just asking”.

Tom is survived by his family Russ (Jenny) McPherson, Darlene (Jim) Deck, Valerie (Stan) Hartz, Kerry (Debbie) Greig, and nieces and nephews, Caley (Devon) Gilkinson; Tavis (Lisette) McPherson; Miranda (Steve) Hoffman, Jevon (Jolene) Deck; Chris Deck; Jessie (Tricia) Schwark; Tanya Hartz ; Angie (Mike) Perry; Kylie (Travis) Anholt; Kevin (Whittney) Greig.

His great nieces and nephews always put a smile on his face, Lillian & Joe Gilkinson; Duncan & Ella McPherson; Decker & Tucker Hoffman; Kennedi, Carson & Cohen Deck & Davi Fedora; Everett and Brady Schwark, and Cameron Hartz; Ayva, Bentley, & Karlee Anholt; Carter & Aubrey Greig.

We have lost a great member of the family, and the Rough Riders have lost one of their strongest fans.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday June 16, at St Andrews United Church in Outlook. Donations and memorials can be directed to Variety Place Association Inc.
