Val brought out the brighter, lighter and adventurous side in us. She could be so much fun! I can hear her, teasing and laughing! I miss her. I so enjoyed showing people her paintings when they would visit our home. These cherished pieces now offer a way to touch and connect as Val's spirit and emotions are held in each brush stroke. We continue to think of, miss and love her each day. Genuine thoughtfulness and prayers of comfort we send to Val's family and loving friends.

I left Saskatoon almost 30 years ago however prior to that time my group of friends included Val. It was easy to be struck by her vivacious and outgoing personality so I remember her with much fondness. In the eighties I hosted a "Halloween party" at my house with a requirement that everyone come in a costume. She chose to come as a Spanish Dancer and it is the only photo I have of Val from those happier days so I've decided to share it with you. The other person in the photo is Kent Gould dressed as a French Maid. Val will be missed, I'm sorry I wasn't able to see her in recent years. I never met her family so hopefully the photo will remind you of another time.
sincerely Terry Mitchell

I am shocked and saddened by Val's passing. Over the last couple of years we became fast friends and frequent email buddies. She always sent words of love and encouragement my way. The painting she did for me from her heart will be treasured. Fly dear angel.

Years ago I purchased a painting from Valerie entitled "Serenity".She had a showing at Waskesiu and I fell in love with the work.I debated if I wanted to spend money at that time and when I went back a second time Valerie said she wanted me to have it as I clearly appreciated her work and generously adjusted her price.I love the painting and I have often thought of Valerie. She was so kind and indeed her work will remain with me and be much loved.I am so sorry to learn of her passing.
