Mawson, Harvey E. Harvey Mawson of Dundurn passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, January 20th. Harvey was born in Dundurn, Saskatchewan, June 13th, 1930 to Harold and Myrtle Mawson at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Drennan. Harvey grew up in Dundurn and lived in the area his entire life. He loved the Round Prairie and the hills west of Dundurn. A cowboy at heart, he was never far from the land. He was an avid hunter and gardener, bird watcher, naturelover, and always a true historian. He was happiest when he was on horseback exploring the sand hills, sitting at his desk penning a poem, or staying up late into the night reading a good book. For Thirty-four years Harvey worked at the Dundurn Military base as a firefighter. He took a great deal of pride from the work he did in that capacity. In later years, when Harvey was no longer a young man, he enjoyed telling stories about his early days, his many exploits with friends and family, and the experiences he had growing up. Harvey was an exceptional storyteller. His talent in this area remains in the volumes of poetry and prairie lore that he has authored over the years. Harvey was greatly loved and will be sadly missed. Left to mourn are his children, Chris-lin (Dennis) Wastle, Joan (Victor) Falk, Tera (Gord) Mcphee, Austin (Marie) Mawson, Jay (Shirley) Mawson; his grandchildren, Nicole (Jayson) Hainer, Travis Cole, Theerie (Rob) Hill, Dustan (Dawn) McPhee, Jordie (Chelsey) Falk, Trisha McPhee, Troy Mawson, Stephanie Mawson, Jennifer Mawson; his great-grandchildren, Emmorie, Chloe, Kemp, Dayne, Delaney and Denym; his mother Myrtle and sister Doreen, his sister-in-law Joy (Eldon), brother-in-law Malcolm (Kay) McIver, sister-in-law Mary (Bruce) Johnson; and numerous other loving family members. Harvey was predeceased by his true love and wife of 60 years Kitty, his father Harold, and his beloved brother Eldon. Harvey's greatest wish was to pass away in peace and to be quietly returned to the land in the company of his Kitty-Belle. In keeping with his wishes, a family memorial will take place when the snow melts off the sand hills in the springtime. The Family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who had a part in caring for Harvey over the past few months, especially the staff at the Langham Senior Citizens Home.
