Braun, Tibor (Ted)
(Holocaust Survivor)
Peacefully, with loved ones by his side, Tibor (Ted) passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in his 84th year. Ted was a loving husband to Anna and father and father-in-law to Andy and Jan (Mckay) of Calgary, Teddy and Lisa (Davidson) of Edmonton and Katherine of Edmonton, and proud Grandfather to Sam, Emily, Bayla, Ezi and Ari. He was predeceased by his parents Ludovic and Maria and his brothers Leslie and Joseph, and all other members of his extended family, all of whom perished in the Holocaust.
Ted was born in Oradea, Hungary in 1930. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Saskatoon where he became a well-known and respected businessman. He will be long remembered for his intelligence, sense of humour and generosity. Ted spoke many languages and took great pleasure in gatherings of friends and family where lively conversation and laughter filled the air. He was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than relaxing day fishing with his friends and family at the lake.
Ted was a joy and inspiration to all that knew him. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to this beloved man and we will miss him dearly. We would like to whole-heartedly thank the staff at the Royal University Hospital for their wonderful and compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday April 30th at the Agudas Israel Synagogue, 715 McKinnon Avenue, Saskatoon. Interment, Jewish cemetery following the service. A light lunch and Shiva to follow at the W.A. Edwards Family centre at the Saskatoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home (306) 244-5577.
