RONALD ALLEN PENNER
September 6, 1934 - July 3, 2014
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Ron after a lengthy illness. Survived by his loving wife Betty; sister Joan; nieces Lesli Brayshaw (Richard) and children Tanner and Nickolas, Tracy Schmidt (Pat Dudiak) and children Laura and Jesse Schmidt, Lindsay McLellan and son Gabriel; nephews Douglas McLellan, Robert McLellan, Greg McLellan (Mary) and children Carson McLellan (Tristin), Kate Houston and Ben Houston; and brother-in- law Robert McLellan. Predeceased by parents Gladys and Jimmy Penner; sister Joyce McLellan; and mother-in-law Julianna Faurillo. Ron was born and raised in Saskatoon and went to Wilson School for his elementary education and Saskatoon Technical Collegiate for high school. He eventually became a journeyman carpenter. In Ron's younger years he played hockey, baseball and curled in a league with his Dad. Ron loved his wife and family more than anything in his life. He especially took great joy in his great nieces and nephews. Ron met and fell in love with his wife at the age of 60 while taking ballroom dancing lessons. Both he and Betty became excellent ballroom dancers and together won several awards for their efforts. Anyone who knew Ron, loved him. He was a caring, loving man who had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. Ron would do anything for those he cared about and you called yourself lucky if you had him in your circle. Ron was a good man, and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. The family would like to say a special thanks to all of the nurses and staff at the Transitional Care Unit at Saskatoon City Hospital who took such excellent care of Ron. Public Visitation and Prayers will be held at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon) on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with Prayers for Ron at 7:00 p.m. followed by cremation on Friday, July 11, 2014.
