Verna Mae Crawford
June 15, 1920 – July 14, 2014
Verna passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at the age of 94 Years. Verna was born June 15, 1920 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan to Peter and Marie Friesen. She was considered the oldest girl of a family of ten. Verna met her husband Wallie in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan. She joined the ladies softball team and Wallie was the coach. The war disrupted their courtship. Verna waited five years for him to come home from over seas. They were married October 12, 1946. They were blessed with five children. Verna was active in the Eastern Star, church choirs, and her many crafts which included knitting, crocheting, plastic canvas and sewing. Verna is survived by her five children: Eileen (Doug) Marshall, Patricia (Bill) Sinfield, Fred (Lorraine) Crawford, Gordon Crawford and Valerie (Mike) Chiasson; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 7 brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Verna was predeceased by her loving husband Walter after 28 years of marriage and her parents and their 3 siblings. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Stensrud Lodge for the care and compassion given to mom. Also the staff at McClure United Church and Amy McClure. The funeral service will be held on Monday July 21st, 2014 at 1:00pm at McClure United Church.
