October 23, 1924 - July 3, 2014
On July 3, 2014 our beloved mother passed away at Samaritan Place. Born in Leeds, England, Margaret sailed to Canada as a war bride with her infant son in 1945, arriving at Pier 21. It was her biggest regret that she never made it back to England to see her parents again. Margaret is survived by son Malcolm (Gladys), daughters Sandra (Woody) Smith and Carol (Larry) Wong. Grandchildren Treena Lindsay, Scott (Sabrina) Lindsay, Correne Smith, Carlene Walter, Candice (Byron) Wist, Christine (Don) Smith. Also, eight great-grandchildren, sister- in-law Nancy Jackson, and many nieces and nephews in England. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Doug in 2003, her parents Jennie and Fred Jackson, brothers Malcolm and Michael (Edith), in-laws Winifred and George Lindsay, brother-in-law Fred Lindsay and her very special grandson Trevor Smith. Mom's greatest joy was to be with her family and never went without singing as she went about her daily ways. Her English sayings caused many a laugh. The family would like to acknowledge the great care and compassion that Samaritan Place gave mom. She was one of the first residences to live there and helped with the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony.
Rest in peace mom.
