My condolences for your loss.
I took first year English with Professor Thompson in 1983 after completing an Engineering degree at the U of S. I loved his classes I still have the papers I wrote in his class. His encouragement set me on a new path in my life and I am forever grateful for that.

Claud was Head of the English Department at U of S when I gained my doctorate in English in 1985. I'm very sorry that this is so late (I live in England) but I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing. He was a kind and courteous man, an excellent academic and very helpful to me in my work.

Claud was a classmate of ours and a very dear friend of our family. We were sorry to lose touch over the years.

To Claud's family: I am very sorry for your loss. Although I knew him only for a six years at the U of S, I have cherished his model of compassion in academia. Peace be with you all at this difficult time.

Saddened to learn of Claud passing away. Margaret and I send our condolences, Phyllis. Claud was a gentle-man and I was pleased to work with him over several years and benefitted greatly from his experience and wise advice at the UofS.

A wonderful man. I grew very fond of Claud while spending a year in the Dean's office when he was Acting Dead. "I do not make any appointments or attend any meetings before 10AM."
