GREGORY MATTHEW BOECHLER March 18th, 1919 July 29th, 2008 Greg passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to mourn his wife, of sixty four years, Sophie (Bobiash); daughter, Sharon (Dave) McPherson and their daughter, Monique; daughter, Peggy (Leo) Tremblay and children, Remi (Alex), Justin (Joanne) and Trina (Greg); son, Gilbert (Dawn Heide) and children, Amanda and Dennis. He also leaves behind five great grandchildren. Greg was one of fourteen children born to Frank F. Boechler and Catherine Selzler. He is survived by brothers, Alphonse (Rose) and Wilfred (Marilyn); sisters, Hilda (Jack Sander) and Sister Catherine. Greg joined the army in 1943 spending time in the Alutien Islands and various countries overseas. In 1944 he married Sophie and in 1946 they started farming in the Allan District until poor health led to his partial retirement in 1993. His son Gilbert took over operation of the family farm under Greg's valued assistance. Greg loved to play his guitar, cards and had a great sense of humour. He loved to tell stories of his life, was generous with his compliments and had nice things to say about everyone. He could always see the humorous side to life's trials. Greg was able to spend his days on the farm right up to his passing through the care supplied by his wife Sophie, family, Homecare and Veterans Affairs. The family wishes to thank the staff at Unit 542 of St. Paul's Hospital for their compassionate care. The Vigil for Greg will be held on Thursday, July 31st at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. Both services from St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Allan, SK. Rite of Committal to follow at the St. Aloysius Parish Cemetery, Allan, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Aloysius Parish Fund or the Lung Assoc. (1231 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5). Arrangements in care of Sue Panattoni MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
