HAROLD CHALMERS

W. Harold Chalmers (May 21, 1929 October 25, 2011) With heavy hearts we announce the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Harold at the age of 82. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Irene (Jefferies) Chalmers; sons Brian (Debbra) and daughters Lindsay and Christine, and Ross (Elsa) and daughter Riane. He is also survived by sisters Jean Rayfield, Ev (Pat) Brown, Dorothy (Paul) Hiebert, and brother Al (Rita) Chalmers. Most important in Harold's life was his family and friends. He will be sadly missed. Harold was born in Brandon, Manitoba. There he met the love of his life, Irene. They married in 1953. After their sons were born they moved from Brandon to Regina and later Saskatoon. Harold worked for Canada Customs and Excise for 34 years, retiring as District Manager in 1986. Harold was a very kind, easy going man that had a smile for everyone. He was an avid sports fan. Volunteering for many charities, McClure United Church and the Eastview Community was very important to Harold. Irene and Harold were privileged to travel throughout the world. Harold's favourite holiday destination was Hawaii. They spent many wonderful winters there with friends and family. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Nurses and Home Care for their help, as well as everyone for their kind wishes during Harold's illness. A celebration of Harold's life will be held on Friday, October 28th, at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor St E, Saskatoon at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Ron McConnell officiating.
