He was predeceased by his father Jakob Strobel, mother Ernestine (Uhrich) Strobel, his wife Eleanor in 2004, his brother-in-law Kenneth Arndt in 2011. Bob is survived by his sister, Louise Arndt; nephews, Howard (Cathy Obyrne), Richard (Audrey), and niece Dr. Susanne Arndt and their children Roxanne and Rigel; Jana and Devin; Michael and Lucy, collectively and his very close friend, Walter Hall. Bob (nicknamed Red and Doc by his classmates) was educated in elementary and high school in Balcarres, SK. The family moved to Regina in 1941 where he further attended Central Collegiate, University of Saskatchewan and then Normal School in Regina. His first teachings were in Theodore, Wolseley and in Assiniboia where he met his future wife, Eleanor Ciartan. Both accepted teaching positions in Saskatoon.
