Arthur Casavant of Blaine Lake, SK. passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the age of 76 years. Left to cherish his memory are his son Lionel (Debbie); two grandchildren Clay and Kira. Arthur is also survived by his brother Marcel (Christine) Casavant, sister-in-law Doreen Casavant as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Dona and Gladys Casavant, brother Richard and twin siblings, deceased at birth.
Art was born on the farm in Blaine Lake and attended Windsor Lake Rural School. His teen years were invested assisting his parents on the farm. In his early 20's he began working for the R.M. of Blaine Lake. In 1963 he married Julie Boutin and together they raised one son and began operating the family farm. Art enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and especially dancing. He enjoyed teasing, loved children and was an avid supporter of 4-H. In fact Art died with his Crown Hill 4-H Beef Club t-shirt on. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments and enjoyed attending their hockey games and 4-H events. To all that knew him Art loved the light hearted side of life and his smile expressed the softness of his big heart.
A Vigil of Prayer will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, 217 Lenore Drive Saskatoon, SK. A celebration of Arthur's life will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Marcelin, SK conducted by Rev. Father Lawrence DeMong. Interment will take place at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Blaine Lake, SK.
