The family of Arthur Matley age 100 years announces his passing on February 15, 2013. Arthur was born December 15, 1912 on a homestead in the Westmoor District, near Lestock, Saskatchewan. In 1919 his family moved to Punnichy where his father, after service in World War I, had been appointed post-master. He took his schooling in Punnichy School, coming to Saskatoon in 1929 for a business course and then employment. In 1937 Arthur joined the staff of Saskatchewan Cooperative Wholesale (later to become Federated Cooperatives). He served the Co-op movement for 40 years, retiring in 1977. Arthur was longtime and active member of Fairhaven Bible Chapel, having served as an elder for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Iris Clark of Ottawa; his son Ted of Saskatoon; and six much loved grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Storey) in 2007, and his first wife Margaret (Whitelaw) in 1960; by his brother, Francis in 1962; his brother, Culver in 1991; his sister, Mary in 1993; his daughter, Joan (Couture) in 2004. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at Fairhaven Bible Chapel, 3503 Fairlight Dr. Saskatoon. Interment will take place prior to the funeral in Woodlawn Cemetery.
