Ray Gordon Sorsdahl
February 27, 1927 - March 31, 2013
Ray passed away peacefully on March 31, 2013 at Sherbrooke Veterans Village. He was born in Midale, SK and grew up on the family farm. He entered the Armed Forces at the age of 15, and his career lasted 25 years. He was a Sargeant in the P.P.C.L.I. Ray was badly wounded in the Korean War when he rescued his men in a mine field. He spent time in France, Germany and a Peace Mission in Egypt. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Constance Sorsdahl. He was the last of 14 brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his loving wife Edna in 2010. He is survived by his children, Larry (Rose) Frey; Stephanie (Harold) Shepherd; Debbie (Mike) Volk. His grandchildren, Annette Frey; Dean (Arlene Wicinski) Frey; Chelsea (Chris) Harris; Curtis Shepherd; Kelli (Mark) Meckelborg, Dreu (Amanda) Volk. His great grandchildren Cain, Jaren, Jaiden, Claire, Kohen, Ryan, Jett, Deklan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family expressed special thanks to the staff at Sherbrooke Veterans Village for the care and compassion given Ray. As per Ray's wishes there will be no funeral service. He will be laid to rest with his wife Edna at a later date. Cremation was done by Prairie View Crematorium.
