It is with great sadness and sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Ian Coutts at the age of 86 years, just days short of his 87th year. He is survived by his loving wife, Emily, son Roger Coutts, his two daughters, Linda O'Sullivan (Don Colgrave) and Mary Coutts (Claude Ferré), his four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his older brother Dave Coutts (January 2013) and his younger brother Les Coutts (November 2012). Ian was originally from the Tuguske area and as a young boy, his family moved to a homestead south west of Watrous. As a young man he worked on the Ontario Hydro then returned to farm next door to his older brother. He met his lifelong love and companion Emily (Kirk) at a local school dance and they married and raised a family of three children. He was a mixed farmer and environmentally friendly, always protecting nature which he loved. He worked hard on the farm and for his community as local telephone lineman, Wheat Pool Board Member, Past President of the Co-op and a counsellor for the Wood Creek RM. He was loyal and generous to all who knew him. In the early 80's, he and Emily sold the family farm and moved to Saskatoon. In his retirement, he enjoyed road trips and camping up and down, back and forth across Canada. When he felt he had seen his own country from end to end, he and Emily then began touring the world. He was a great-fixer-upper and could fix anything mechanical but never seemed to grasp carpentry work to Emily's demise. He loved the news and always kept up with world happenings. In lieu of a service, the family invites relatives and friends to a come and go tea at the home residence in Saskatoon on Friday, June 21st, 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. Tributes in Ian's memory may be made to the Habitat for Humanity.
