1916 - 2014
It is with sadness that the family announces that George Henry Seymour passed away at St. Paul's Hospital on Thursday May 15, 2014 at the age of 97 years. George is survived by his daughter, Judy (Bill) Packard of Clackamas, Oregon and his two sons Leonard (Jean) of Quesnel, BC and Stanley (Donna) of Asquith, SK; and six grandchildren, Walter, Steve, Jayson, Jennifer (Kevin), Christie (Trevor), Kerri (Marshal); and 6 great- grandchildren. Also surviving is the family of Mary Seymour (Retzer) and her daughters, Bev., Donna, Janie, Connie along with their spouses and children. He is survived by his sister Jessie of BC. George was predeceased by his wife Muriel and his second wife Mary Retzer and her daughter Ruffina and his sister Gladys and brothers John and Fred. George was born at Juniata, SK on September 6, 1916 to John and Alice Seymour. He grew up on the family homestead near Asquith, SK. He married Muriel Summach on November 27, 1940 and they farmed at Asquith, SK where they raised their three children; along with being active in community service having served on the local school board and credit union and very active in his church. George was a successful farmer. His family will remember his love and kindness. A Memorial Service will be officiated by Rev. Percy Keith on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Asquith Baptist Church, with a reception following. A private family interment service will have taken place earlier that day. A Public Visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2014 between the hours of 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home (4th Ave. & 25th St.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Quest at Christopher Lake Baptist Camp and Retreat Center. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
