Louise Shaffer Obituary
Mission, TX - Louise Shaffer, 86, Mission, Texas, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015.
She was born January 7, 1929 in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of the late Earl and Christine (Kissinger) Elliott. Louise grew up in Muncie, Indiana and attended Muncie Central High School. After school she began working at Ball Stores and in later years she worked for Haags Drug Store in the Northwest Plaza.
Louise loved to help people so she donated her time driving for Meals on Wheels, and would drive patients to their appointments for Little Red Door. She belonged to the Camping Cardinals and she loved to ride her motorcycle on poker runs with her late husband, Carl. Louise & Carl enjoyed spending their winters in Texas and in 1983 they decided to make Mission, Texas their permanent residence. It was never the same without Carl, but she loved the people and the weather. She was in the planning stages of moving back to Muncie when she took ill.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Gilpin (companion, Willis Durant) of Yorktown, Indiana and Joan Wools (husband-David) of Muncie, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gollifer (husband, Brad), Julie Roach (husband, Corey), Matthew Gilpin (wife, Melinda) and Kimberly Berner (husband, Michael); seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Catrina, Nick, Hannah, Kaylee, Cooper and Jacob; sister-in-law, Sue Elliott; and special niece and nephew, Susan and Brian Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Christine Elliott; husband, Carl Shaffer; son-in-law, Tony Gilpin; and one brother, Gordon Elliott.
Services will be held at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 with Pastor Denny Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Calling will be at Parson Mortuary from 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday until time of service.
