Maxine Hallman Grice COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Maxine Hallman Grice, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Grice's grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the funeral home. Maxine passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Born December 19, 1928 in Lugoff, she was the daughter of the late David and Nettie Ford Hallman. She attended school in Richland County, graduating from Lower Richland High School in 1946. She married Keisler D. "K.D." Grice on August 18, 1951 and for all of her adult life, she was a wife and devoted homemaker. Her energy and work ethic were an example to everyone who knew her. She cared for children, cooked and kept her home spotless and was a skilled seamstress. Her talents were of benefit to family, neighbors and friends. When it came to her grandchildren, "Granny Grice" chose no favorites. Her acts of love and kindness to each were special and she will be remembered as someone who loved them deeply. To each of them, she was the perfect grandmother who was revered as well as respected. Maxine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Keisler D. Grice; loving mother to her surviving children, Brenda G. Wiggins (Gary) of Hopkins, Larry G. Grice (Barbara) of Leesville, Debbie G. Wells (Terry) of Hopkins and Kenneth D. Grice (Alice) of Columbia; sisters, Ernestine Byrd (Olin) and Elizabeth Young (Claytor); brothers, David D. Hallman, Charles D. Hallman (Jean) of Moulton, Ala.; grandmother to six grandchildren, both biological and adopted; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Margaret H. Grice. She is reunited in death with a son, Mark Anthony Grice; granddaughter, Kathleen Marie Grady; sister, Hilda H. Hutto (Cecil) of Columbia and sister-in-law, Myrtle Hallman. The family would like to express its most heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lexington Medical Center, Providence Hospital and Agape Senior for their attentive care. Memorials may be made to SCOA Cares, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210, Church Unleashed at Beulah, 9487 Garners Ferry Road, Hopkins, SC 29061, or the charity of one's choice. Mr. Grice and Family,
It was such a joy to see and hug Mrs. Grice when I saw her in Therapy. Such a sweet spirit and beautiful smile. Such a great honor that she crossed my path in this life here on earth. Everyone loved her and Mr. Grice at Agape. We will miss her dearly. God be with you all in the days ahead. Blessings of Caring. Phyllis Sweatt

A Kiss And A Hug
I will cherish the last kiss and hug I was honored with from Mrs. Grice. She was frail and tired yet relentless in sharing a loving kiss and hug with me. I was not alone, Larry was with me and she was ready to go to bed. Waiting for someone to come to her aid, we left her at her bedside, after she kissed and hugged us both goodbye. I will forever remember the last kiss and hug she honored me with. For little did I know it would be my last. For all that knew her as Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sibling, Aunt, In-Law, or Friend the kiss and hug were trademarks of hers. She received you with welcoming open arms, kissed you gently and hugged you dearly. It was hello good to see you again, or I love you and ya'll come back when you can. Never did you enter her presence or leave her presence without a kiss and a hug. And she passed this family tradition to her Children and Grandchildren, always the whole family kissing and hugging hello or goodbye. Always her home, filled with love and kisses and hugs.
I will always love her, and miss her in our presence in this life. But through God's Word I am assured we go beyond the vail to eternal life. I will long for her welcoming arms into a kiss and a hug and a welcome home greeting when I see her again in Heaven.
We will all miss her so deeply.
Barbara

My heart goes out to all of the family who has always been considered family to me. I have always considered Maxine as another mother to me and we shared so many great times, vacations, laughs and so many memories that can ever be taken away. For that we are so blessed to have had those times to hold in our hearts. I love all of you. Kathy
