David Earl Kelly WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral services for David Earl Kelly "Pappy", 86, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Jackson. Burial will follow at Congaree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Kelly passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late John L. Kelly, Sr. and Bertha Neeley Kelly. He was a lifetime area resident of South Congaree and a member of Congaree Baptist Church of West Columbia. He enjoyed gardening and working on his many projects. Surviving are his wife, Eldora S. Kelly, and his children: daughters, Ronna Kelly Kyzer (Don) of West Columbia and Paula Kelly Swindell (Michael) of Irmo; son Charles "Rennie" Kelly (Regina) of South Congaree; five grandchildren, Amanda Kyzer Gantt (Delphin); Jarrett Kelly, Scott, Chad and Ben Swindell and two great grandchildren, Broxton and Braydon Gantt; sisters, Era Reh of Leesville, Geneva Shields of Eldred, PA, Aileen Taylor of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Jean Oswald of Pine Ridge; brother Grover C. Kelly. He was predeceased by five brothers, Woodrow Kelly, Cleve Kelly, Reynard Kelly, Robert Kelly and John Kelly, Jr. and four sisters, Edna Hoffman, Joyce Graham, Ellen Marthers and Gertrude Spigner.
