Jeanne Mende "Toni" Walser BLYTHEWOOD - A memorial service for Toni Walser, 80, will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm, at Atria, 4405 Forest Dr., Columbia, SC 29206. Born Gloria Jeanne Tomlin in 1933 she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Dorothy Tomlin. Toni Mende Walser spent most of her colorful life living and raising her family in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated form North Fulton High School and attended the University of Georgia. She married Gill E. Mende, Sr. in 1952 and together they had 3 children. She was one of the first female real estate agents in NE Atlanta where she spent her career with Northside Realty. She also was a partner in several restaurant ventures in Atlanta including the popular Saccone's in Buckhead. She became an honorary member of The Buckhead Boys as Saccone's was a favorite locale of North Fulton High alumni and other prominent Buckhead residents. Always active, she was a tennis player, a golfer, and rode motorcycles with her family. She was very involved with her children's activities and her home was welcoming to all. She is survived by her children; Gill Mende Jr. (Linda), Cynthia Mende King, David D. Mende, 3 granddaughters Kathleen, Emma, Katherine, her brother Don Tomlin (Claire) of Miami, and 4 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her 1st husband and father of her children, Gill E. Mende, Sr. and her 2nd husband Gaither Walser of Lexington, NC. The family would like to thank all of the staff of Atria Forest Drive and especially to Genesis Harley who first cared for her as she began her long journey with Alzheimer's disease. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Organization. Condolences may be sent to the residence. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel is assisting the family. While growing up in the area, the Mende home was a special place to visit. I cannot remember ever being greated with less than a big smile from Mrs Mende. Thank You, Always !

I remember 'Toni' as someone who was full of life that loved her family and friend. I always seemed to be welcome no-matter what mischief I was involved in.
