Mrs. Murdaugh was born Jan. 26, 1922 in Fairfax, SC, a daughter of the late Euly Roy and Pearl Beatrice Brown Mixon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denmark.
Surviving are a son Douglas C. Murdaugh and his wife Johnnie of Orangeburg, a daughter, Daphne M. Hand and her husband Sammy of Denmark; grandchildren, Marty (Laural) Murdaugh, Dougie (Kim) Murdaugh, Allan Hand, and Tammy (Michael) Bell; great grandchildren, Corey and Matthew Murdaugh, Hunter and Sidney Murdaugh and a special niece Shirley Balwin of Fairfax.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at Mercer Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. at Rice Patch Christian Church Cemetery in Islandton. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family expresses their thanks to the staff of Bamberg Nursing Center and to Hospice and Dr. William Glenn and a very special caregiver Norma Dukes of Bamberg.

Daphne, so sorry for your loss. She was a very sweet lady. I remember her well from my days at the bank in Denmark. May God comfort you and all your family.
