Born October 28, 1923, in Blacksburg, SC he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Baber Love. He graduated from Wofford College in 1941 and in 1942 joined the Medical Administative Corps as a second lieutenant. Dr. Love graduated from Dental School at Emory University in 1946 and after that began his practice in McColl and Clio. He married Dorothy Gibson, his beloved and dedicated wife, from Gibson, NC in 1947. Dr. Love became interested in the community early in his career. He was on the school board for over 20 years beginning in 1947. He served as chairman for many of those years. He was instrumental in bringing vocational education to the schools. He was always been a strong supporter of the arts, especially music education. He was in the ROTC Band and Glee Club at Wofford. He played saxophone in "The Devileers", a band that played at the school in the 50s. He was chairman of the Band Booster Club and helped to raise money that formed the band program. He chaired the committee that organized the first Horse Show in 1967. His efforts have not gone unrecognized and now the Music Department is named for him at The McColl Middle School. His contributions to the school have enabled them to build a football field equipped with lights, baseball and soccer fields, and a concession stand with a meeting room. A beautiful sign was built at the entrance dedicating it as The C.W. Love Athletic Park. Continuing his interests in building the community and supporting the youth, he built the C.W. Love Sports Complex in June 2003. The park brings youth and their families from all around the county. Besides baseball and rodeos, an annual Easter Egg Hunt is one of the biggest events at the park. Dr. Love practiced dentistry in McColl for over 43 years from 1946 until 1989. His Orthodontics brought people from all over North and South Carolina. The office was opened six days a week. He is a charter member of The American Society of Dentistry for Children and received an award in 1988 for his contributions. Dr. Love served as a lay leader for The Main Street United Methodist Church and made many speeches over the years. He was now an active member of The Pine Grove Methodist Church, and has been for over 25 years. After retiring from dentistry, he opened The McColl Museum in 1997. His dentist office serves as the original space for the Museum, but several additions have been added as need for space continues to grow. The people of McColl have been very supportive in donating many of the artifacts that make the museum a treasure to the community. Of all the awards received, one of the most valued was being named the Man Of The Year in 2006 by the town of McColl. He was also honored on February 12, 2002 by The Rotary Club as the 4-Way Test Good Citizen. On October 28, 2007, Dr. Love received the Order of The Silver Crescent from The State of South Carolina.
