Mr. Kennington went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Columbia. He was born in Dodson, Texas, on November 16, 1930, the son of the late Thomas M. and Pearl Tisdale Kennington. He was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Kennington and his sister, Mary Kennington. After serving 20 years in the Air Force Jody retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. After the Air Force he worked for N.C.R. for 20 years, re-tiring as an engineer. In all of his endeavors he carried himself with dignity and honor. His life exuded love, patience, kindness, good-ness, faithfulness and unconditional giving. His commitments to his wife, his family, his friends and his country were truly exemplary.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Annette Cogdill Kenning-ton; his sons, Jody A. and his wife, Judy, of Graniteville, Jim and his wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert and his wife, Laura, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kenny of West Columbia; daughters, Terry Arthman and her husband, Bill, of Savannah, Ga., Peggy Blaesing and her husband, Bill, of Landrum; stepsons, Jason Jeffcoat of Blythewood, Mark Jeffcoat of Columbia; stepdaughter, Kelly Krueger of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister, Sybil Guthrie and her husband, Bob, of Enid, Okla.; brother, Ted Kennington of Pensacola, Fla. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren.
