Chief Evans was a real leader and the last true Fire Chief of the Columbia Fire Dept. and not a politician. He always put his Firefighters before himself. The appointed CFD fire chiefs that have followed his tenure have never approached Chief Evens high standards and the respect he earned. Chief Evans will never be forgotten.

Thinking of you and your family today. Stay strong and know your daddy is free Melody. No more sorrow. Know you will see him again and will be in his arms again.

Chief Evans was the last of the real “Old-Time Fire Chiefs” in Columbia, S.C. I will always remember his love of the fire service and fire tradition. He will be missed. George Mick, Upper Richland FD, CRFS

May he rest in peace amongst his fellow servicemen, servicewomen, wife, family, and friends. We'll all see him on the other side some day and when that day comes we will be made whole once more.
