Elenoria Porter TOBYHANNA, Pa. - On Saturday, November 2, 2013, Elenoria Porter died peacefully with her family by her side. Elenoria Porter was born to Arvella and Stanford Eason on July 23, 1933, in Cincinnati, OH. She married Ernest Preston Porter and was instrumental in supporting his matriculation from Ohio State University and Einstein/Yeshiva Medical School, as well as his military service at Fort Jackson, SC. Elenoria was a pioneer and public servant for many years. In New York, Elenoria attained an Associate Degree in Opticianry and opened her own business, Ebony Eyes. She was one of the first African American women certified opticians in Brooklyn. Elenoria moved her family to South Carolina where she worked in the state's Department of Education and continued to support the states' education efforts as the chief executive assistant for the South Carolina Business-Education Partnership, that has won national acclaim for its outcomes. Elenoria moved back to New York to take care of her father and worked as a court clerk for the City of Long Beach, NY. Elenoria was blessed with two children, Deborah Porter Crowder and Stanley Eason Porter, a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Parker Porter, son-in-law, Troy Crowder, and grandchildren, Zyaire Crowder, Kirby Porter and Haley Porter. Elenoria was a beautiful and caring mother, wife, friend and co-worker. Elenoria always worked hard and smiled, as she simply wanted the best for her children, grandchildren, and those in her life. We are all better people having Elenoria in our lives. The wonderful memories of her will fill the sorrow of not having her here. Love you so much. Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Brooklyn Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2380 Pacific Street, Brooklyn, NY 11233. Private Cremation.
