Faye Franklin GREENWOOD - Faye D. Franklin, 83, resident of 109 Timber Lane Drive, died August 5, 2014, at her home. Born October 5, 1930, in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late James Grady and Sadie Martha Thomas Franklin. She attended Winthrop College starting in 1948 and finished the nursing program in 1951, and did recertification studies at both the University of South Carolina and the University of Georgia. Miss Franklin retired from the Charlie Norwood Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta, having worked there as a registered nurse from 1959 to 1979. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Johnston and attended the First Baptist Church of Greenwood. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are a niece, Dr. Wanda F. Williams and her husband, Sam Creel of Key Largo, FL; special cousins, Peggy Moon of Missouri and Mary Chavis of North, SC; special friends, Polly Harvin and Argyle Carson, both of Greenwood; many neighbors and friends who visited and cared for her during her extended illness; and two special caregivers, Sadie Johnson of Abbeville and LaToya Lake of Greenwood. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Friday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Blake Kendrick officiating. The family will be at the home on Timber Lane Drive where a luncheon will be served to family and friends from 12:30 to 2:30 on Friday. All her family and friends are invited to attend for a time of visitation.
