Francis M. Quinn GREENVILLE - Francis M. Quinn of Greenville, SC passed away on January 25, 2014 at the age of 87. Surviving are his wife Gloria of 63 years; son: Tom and wife Joy of Greenville, SC; daughter: Kathleen Quinn Sheetz and husband George of Charleston, SC; sister: Catherine Ray of Monravia, CA; granddaughter: Amanda Sheetz of Charleston, SC; grandson: Sgt. George Sheetz and wife Becky of Lexington, SC; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Billy, Tyler and Ashley. Mr. Quinn was born in Yonkers, NY and attended school there with his four sisters. He joined the US Navy in 1943 and served aboard the USS Arkansas during WWII and received a Purple Heart for his service. Upon discharge he attended college at N.Y.U. in New York City. He married Gloria McGee on May 20, 1950. His work took him and his family to various cities in Illinois, Ohio and Connecticut. His company built a new plant in Lexington, SC in 1972 where he was Plant Manager. He retired from Ericsson after 38 years of service. Later he took a part-time job at Bojangles in Lexington, SC where he made many lifelong friends. A memorial service will be held at The Howze Mortuary Chapel on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. The family will be at the residence, 519 Summit Bluff Drive, Greenville, SC 29617. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Rd., Greenville, SC 29607.
