James Arthur Benn, Sr. COLUMBIA- The homegoing service for James Arthur Benn, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home (2930 Colonial Drive, Columbia) with burial Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6-7:00 p.m. James was born in Courtland, VA to the late Jody McKinley Benn, Sr. and Corrine Naomi Benn. He passed away on April 27, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 76. Serving nearly 30 years in the United States Army, Mr. Benn was a highly decorated Army veteran. He was the owner and founder of Grace Veterans Foundation, a non-profit organization established to assist veterans. Mr. Benn is survived by his wife, Eras Elizabeth Benn, and their two children, Keishia (Ben) Cooper and Disha (Kenneth) Benn-Peay; four children from his previous marriage; Terri (Michael Sr.) Benson, James (Valerie) Benn, Jr., Deveronette Benn and Anthony (Brenda) Benn; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special niece, Putiona Lige'; and other loving relatives and friends.
