James Leon Sauls Sr. ELGIN - James Leon Sauls, Sr., 72, of Elgin, died on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Born on December 1, 1941, he was a 25 year veteran of the United States Army. After his military retirement, he worked as a technician for International Paper for an additional 21 years. Mr. Sauls was a very active member at Capital City Baptist Church, where he served in his Sunday School Class and as an usher for over 34 years. Survivors include a son, James Sauls, Jr.; a daughter, Eva Andrews (Scott); granddaughters, Sydney and Emily Andrews; and a brother, Malcolm Sauls. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a number of brothers. A funeral service for Mr. Sauls will be held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Capital City Baptist Church, with the Reverend Paul Monroe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church half an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
