John Arledge CAMDEN - Funeral services to celebrate the life of John R, Arledge, 86, of Camden, SC will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 2, 2013 at Malvern Hill Baptist Church in Camden. Rev. Craig Thompson and Rev. Buster Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 PM, Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in his memory to Malvern Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1514 Malvern Hill Drive, Camden, SC, or Kershaw Health Hospice, 124 Battleship Road, Camden, SC 29020. John R. Arledge died August 30, 2013. He was born November 29, 1926 in Sumter County, son of the late Issac Arledge and Celena Brown Arledge Sharpe, John was a retired maintenance supervisor with DuPont, having worked 34 years. He was a US Army Corporal, WWII veteran, who served in The Pacific Theatre in the Philippines. He was a member of Kershaw Lodge #29, a former Shriner, and a former member of Camden Lion's Club. John was a former Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director and a member of the Cemetery Committee at Malvern Hill Baptist Church. John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wilma Harris Arledge; son, Dennis G. Arledge and his wife Lori of Camden; daughter, Vickie F. Robinson of Camden; five grandchildren, John, Hank and Gordon Arledge, Jack Fletcher, and Amy Barrett (Shane); three great-grandchildren, Tripp Fletcher, Noah and Payton Barrett; sister, Helen Hanson; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his son, Phillip S. Arledge and sister, Margaret A. Jordan; brother, William "Billy" Arledge and his first wife, Elizabeth Outlaw Arledge.
