Michael Atkinson LUGOFF - A private service to celebrate the life of Michael "YaYa" or "PeeWee" Atkinson, 67, will be held, conducted by Rev. Joe Stines. Michael died Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was born in Hartsville, SC and was the son of the late Jacob Adam Atkinson and Christine Walters Atkinson. Mike is survived by his wife, Wanda Moseley Atkinson, a son, Mitch Atkinson (Beth), and four granddaughters, all of Lugoff, SC. Also surviving are his three sisters: Patricia Godwin (Larry), Debbie Atkinson and Vikki Stevenson (Jimmy), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Mitchell. Mike graduated from Camden High School in 1965 and was proud to have served in the US Air Force from 1966-1970 in SE Asia. He was retired from Fisher Service Company. Mike enjoyed fishing, Nascar, and Gamecock Sports, especially football. He was a member of Wateree Valley Classics Car Club, and loved his 57 Chevy. He enjoyed sitting together with friends, and playing Bluegrass music. His favorite pastime was spoiling his grandchildren. Mike was a member of Malvern Hill Baptist Church in Camden. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the , 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Columbia, SC, 29033 or Disabled American Veterans, VARO Suite 1129, 6437 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
