Roger Debien COLUMBIA - Inurnment service for Mr. Roger Debien, 66, will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. He passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Roger was born May 8, 1948, in Massena, New York, the 7th of eight children. Roger served for 24 years in the Army, retiring as a sergeant major. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and earned a purple heart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Hawley Debien, brother, Timothy Debien, and parents, Joseph Floyd Debien and Doris Debien. Surviving are: his son, David (Michelle) Debien; two grandchildren, Ariel Debien and Pallas Debien; three stepchildren, Alexis Williams, Kotie Hawley, Christopher Hawley; his brothers and sisters, Richard Debien, Sally McComber, Ronnie Debien, Gary Debien, Marilyn Finnin, and Carolyn Greene; In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Roger's name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars via www.vfw.org/contribute. Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel, assisted the family.
