Ronald M. Fields Sr. ROCK HILL - Mr. Ronald Mac Fields, Sr., 79, of 331 Stephanie Lane, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Memorial service will be 12:30 P.M. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be private. A native of South Fulton, TN, Mac was the son of the late Clyde Maxie and Mary Ann Moss Fields. He retired from American General Life Insurance Company where he worked as an office sales manager for over 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Following his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher for Rock Hill School District 3. He was active in his community as a member of the Lions and Masons and he served as a high school football referee in a career which spanned over 50 years throughout 5 states. One of his proudest accomplishments was having refereed in over 500 high school football games. Mac also umpired boys baseball and girls softball. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Shirley LeCornu Fields, of the home; two sons, Ronald Mac Fields, Jr. and wife, Robin, of Spartanburg, SC and Kurtis Lee Fields, of West Columbia, SC; two daughters, Leah Kaye Jackson and husband, Vince, of York, SC and Andrea Rae McKay, of Rock Hill; four sisters, Laraine Butler and husband, Bill, of Wilmington, NC, Janice Sue Rice and husband, Jerry, of Nashville, TN, Mary Elizabeth Hancock and husband, Curtis, of Fulton, KY and Ginger Cooper and husband, Gary, of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Caroline Fields McMillan (Jason), Heath Fields, Daniel Fields, twins Rebeccah Fields and Ronnie Fields, and Beth Styles (Chase); and his great-grandson, Sawyer Styles. In addition to his parents, Mac was preceded in death by his brother, Morgan Fields and his sister, Teresa Jane Cain In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Building Fund, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the service, from 11:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. and other times at the home.Condolences may be made on-line at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
