Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 â€' 8 PM at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday December 1, 2011 at West End Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Thomas B. Huggins officiating.
Mr. Lowder was born in Alcolu, SC a son of the late Burrell Tindal Lowder, Sr. and Ida Virginia Lowder. The late Anna Stewart Lowder later became is stepmother. He owned and operated Lowders Garage in St. Matthews for 40 years, prior to that he worked with Hicklin Motor Lines in St. Matthews. Mr. Lowder was a member and a former Deacon of the First Baptist Church, the Bobby Gressette Sunday School Class. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Junious and Clinton Lowder and sisters Katherine Day and Christine Prescott
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Rose Weeks Lowder of the home, two daughters Patsy L. Wise and husband Frankie of St. Matthews, Ginny L. Shirer and husband George of St. Matthews grandsons Tommy Wise and Bambi of Orangeburg, Lin and Christie Shirer of St. Matthews, granddaughter Kelly and Telbus McAlhany of Branchville; great grandchildren who he loved and adored Kaileigh Ann Wise of Orangeburg, Blake and Trevor McAlhany of Branchville, Cailin Shirer of St. Matthews; a brother Wilbur and wife Elsie Lowder of Florence, SC
The family would like to send a special thanks to Community Home Care and Hospice. Thanks to Leslye, Liliane, Missy, Katy, Pat and Leza.
Also a special thanks to our caretakers Arlene Moore, Elnora Fludd, Pat Brule and Jo Walling. We will never forget all the help, kindness and love you gave to all of us.
