Dorothy Dixon Barrineau MULLINS - Dorothy Dixon Barrineau died at her home on July 9, 2013. She was born on April 4, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Lula Mae Slaughter Banks and Albert Warren Dixon. Mrs. Barrineau attended the University of South Carolina and was a teacher in the Horry and Marion County school systems. She later taught kindergarten at Pee Dee Academy and worked to develop the school's kindergarten curriculum. She was an active member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and a member of the Stith Sunday school class. "Miss Dot" was known in her community as one who loved helping others. She is survived by 3 children: Timothy W. Barrineau, Jr. of Myrtle Beach; Elizabeth (Bette) M. Barrineau of Mullins; and Helen B. George (Wayne). She adored her 3 grandsons: Jeffrey W. George, William M. George and Bradley J. George, her sister-in-law Betty Banks of Wilson, NC, and extended cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barrineau was predeceased by her husband, Timothy Winston Barrineau; brother, Carey Hunter Banks; and sister, Betty Lynn Banks Ingram. The family will receive friends at 223 Meadowview Lane in Mullins, SC, before and after the Funeral service that will be held at Macedonia United Methodist Church at 3:00 Friday. Burial will follow at Cedardale Cemetery, Mullins, SC. The Reverend Kem Thomas will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church 402 North Main Street, Mullins, SC 29574.
