John Frederick "Rick" Stewart CHARLOTTE - John Frederick "Rick" Stewart, 42, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Charlotte, Rick, a son of James Frederick Stewart and Nancy Anne Jenkins Stewart, was born February 24, 1971. He was a graduate of the 1990 class of Northside Christian Academy. Rick worked at Wells Fargo Mortgage and First Union Mortgage; he then served as a volunteer and later a staff member at Hickory Cove Bible Camp. Rick was an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Renee Robinson; paternal grandparents, Albert and Dorothy Stewart, and by maternal grandfather, Archie Jenkins. Rick was fiercely loyal to God, his family and friends, and was loved by everyone who knew him. Rick is survived by his parents, James and Nancy Stewart of Iron Station; siblings, Elizabeth Lori Landin of Chapin, SC, Jamie Stewart, Jr. of Goose Creek, SC, Matthew Stewart and wife, Mandy, of Mount Holly, Natalie Kuhn and husband, Tim, of Denver, NC; nieces and nephews, Jillian, Claire, Kendall, Brittany, Ethan, Grayson and Kiersten. He is also survived by his birth parents, Richard Robinson, Janie Sackinger, and their families. The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14 in the chapel at McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, with Pastor Chuck Myers and Rev. Mike Young officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
