The family of Mr. Takach,

I am sorry for your loss. I never knew your father yet he was well known in our shared community of US Air Force Combat Controllers.

First to have succeeded in becoming a Combat Controller was difficult. Yet to have volunteered again to enter into Vietnam is another feat. Then to perform his duties and exceed the unspoken standards of conduct of "special operations"...in a world where there are no rules or standards other than to survive speaks volumes. Michael Takach took it beyond his call of duty to protect his comrades and others returning home from a thankless war to be awarded the Bronze Star and two commedation medals.

In the end he walked away from his military career a quiet professional.

The exact hero amongst many "silent professionals" myself and my peers learned from and looked up to.

Thank you
v/r
