Robert M. Harrelson MULLINS - Robert Mitchell Harrelson, 64, died Sunday, September 15, 2013, in Carolinas Hospital System of Florence after an illness. Robert was born December 5, 1948, in Mullins, the son of the late Mitchell Marion Harrelson and the late Martha Martin Harrelson. He was employed with James C. Greene Co. as an insurance adjuster. Robert was very active in many civic, county and state organizations, including the S.C. Commission for the Blind, had served as Vice-Chairman of the S.C. Board of Corrections and had also served as Chairman of the Marion County Republican Party. He served as Chairman of the Marion County Voter Registration and was former President of the Marion County Historical Society. He was also a member of the Mullins City Planning Commission. Robert was a graduate of Mullins High School and a US Navy veteran. He was a lifetime member of Wildlife Action. He was a very active lifelong member of Gapway Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Surviving Robert are: a Son: Mitchell Henry (Kaylee) Harrelson of Lexington; a grandson; a granddaughter; 3 sisters: Barbara (Pat) Baker of Mullins, Nancy (Evans) Collins of Mullins, and Teresa (Mike) Crowley of Myrtle Beach; 3 nieces: Summer Lane, Jeanna Lawrence and Carmen Bondurant; and several great nieces and great nephews. Graveside service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Bailey officiating. The service will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
