Jeanelle, when I heard on Sunday morning at First Pres. that Will had passed away, I was shocked and saddened. I began working as a page in the General Assembly, when your husband was a Representative. I was always struck by his kindness and his professionalism amid the chaos. He continued to always be a light among the darkness, as I would run into him around the State House. I continue to work there, but now in the Senate Bill Room. I pray your memories and faith comfort you as you grieve the passing of such an exceptional man. My prayers are with you. God's peace.

Rarely in life do we meet those precious few for whom integrity is simply a way of life. In all the years I knew and worked with Will, his honesty and impeccable preparation were just accepted as fact. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with Jeanelle and the family. God Bless.

Will and I became fast friends when I got elected to the SC House in 1991, and we have been friends ever since. He was a great guy who cared about his firends, and did all he could to find jobs for the Beasley staffers when the term expired. I will miss our running conversations of movie lines, song lyrics and general sarcastic comments about all things political. I will miss the competition of who can remind the other first that it's D Day and Pearl Harbor Day.
I will miss you Big Lug, but I will never forget you and I know we will see each other in that sweet by and by, and you beat me there. You have a new body and there is no more pain. To Jeanelle, Charlie and Mimi, our prayers are with you, and may God Bless and keep you in the palm of His Hand

Jeanelle-- I was so saddened when I heard of Will's death. The idea that his presence was gone from this earth made me weep...but then I started smiling just thinking about him smiling. He had a great smile! Will was the first person I spoke to when I learned I would be moving to South Carolina 17 years ago. Coming from the Governor's Office in Alabama, I was hoping to land a similar gig with Governor Beasley. Will did hire me and it was the best job I ever had--working with such a great group of energetic young people, all passionate about the same thing. I think the last time I saw Will was about four years ago at First Pres. He just raved about Dr. Ferguson and said you two "just didn't want to miss!" Praise the Lord for that. My greatest joy in the midst of sadness is knowing that Will is with the Lord. Please know that I am praying for you-- that the Lord will surround you with His peace and comfort.

Dear Jeanelle,
I didn't know Will but knowing you tells me volumes about the man who chose you for his loving life companion. Please know that I will continue to pray for you and the family as now is just as difficult as the battle with cancer because you are doing this one without him. But thanks be to God you will have your Heavenly Husband to lean on and whisper your innermost thoughts. May He be your source of strength and comfort and may you experience the peace that passes all understanding. With love,
