Elizabeth K. Pillas COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Elizabeth K. Pillas, 88, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mrs. Pillas died Friday, February 28, 2014. Born in K ln, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Josephine and Bernhard Kuckertz. Mrs. Pillas enjoyed bowling in her early days in Europe, gardening and crafts such as needle point, crochet, and knitting. She was an avid card player, favoring bridge and pinochle. Mrs. Pillas was very fond of her dog, Josie and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was best remembered as the hostess and cashier at the family owned restaurant Stadium Steak House. In her later years, she could be spotted at Little Fran's or Bernie's, mingling with the crowd in the dining room. Surviving are her children, DeAna Shealy of Dawsonville, Ga., Bernie Shealy (Sandra) of Columbia, Dan Pillas of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Leland Shealy of Columbia, Anna Shealy of Charleston; former daughter-in-law, Rhonda Shealy, and lifelong friend, Betty "Betty Boop" Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Wilbur Leland Shealy and Peter Dan Pillas; and a brother, Herbert Kuckertz.
