Iris Bailey LAURENS - Iris Burnett Bailey, 85, resident of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens, SC, and former resident of Laurens and Greenwood, passed away May 5, 2014. She was the wife of the late William Little Bailey for 66 years until his death February 14, 2013. Born October 27, 1928 Iris was the daughter of Lucille Owen Burnett and William Burnett of Greenwood. She was employed for many years at the County Bank in Greenwood and was the city's first female teller. In 1976 she left the bank to join her husband at Carolina Concrete Company in the Clinton office e where she could take time off as needed to help with and enjoy their three grandchildren Stan, Mary Kathryn, and Ryan. She is survived by her son, James William Bailey and his wife, Johnnie, of Greenwood; daughter, Anne and husband, Tripp Jones, of Columbia; grandchildren, Stan (Holly) Jones of Panama City, FL, Mary Kathryn Bailey of Rock Hill, and Ryan Jones of Marietta, GA; great-grandchildren Hannah Jones, Caitlyn Jones, Tide Jones and Lucas Jones. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and all three of her siblings, William R. Burnett of Anderson, Sybil Burnett Geddings of Bethesda, MD, and Mickey R. Burnett of Greenville. Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Oakbrook Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Coker officiating. The family is at the home of Jim and Johnnie Bailey, 112 St. Andrews Lane in Greenwood and will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
