Michael Anthony Scott BLYTHEWOOD - Michael Anthony Scott passed away quietly Monday morning at the age of 78. He was born June 27th 1935 in London, England. Mike went to the School of John Whitgift in Croydon, England where he started playing rugby at the age of 11. He was in the Royal Air Force for 2 years where he continued to play rugby with the officers. He married Shirley June Critchell on September 7, 1957. They had 2 children, Tim and Sally while still in England. He completed his BSc in Math, Chemistry and Physics at London University. Mike became a creative force in the impact printing industry, developing many patents as a lab chemist in England. He immigrated to Long Island, NY, with his family in 1975. At that time he began coaching the Long Island rugby team for several years. He was a born entrepreneur, able to enthusiastically lead others in the forming of 4 new successful companies. He died while still working with his son, Tim at MicrRibbons in Blythewood, SC. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley and his son, Tim, wife Cathy and 3 grandchildren, Mckenzie, Robert and Stephanie Scott. Mike was a tour de force of personality, infective everyone he met with a joy of life, camaraderie, a love of rugby and sports and the power of his positive attitude. Services will be held at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home on 4645 Hardscrabble Road, Columbia, SC 29229 at noon, Friday June 20th, followed by a reception at his house at 416 Rimer Pond Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.
