James Gray Moore Jr. MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. - James Gray Moore, Jr., 73, of Melbourne Beach, FL passed away on August 3, 2014. Born at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC to parents James Gray Moore, Sr. of Tryon, NC and Hazel Hutto Moore of Columbia, SC, he graduated from Dreher High School in Columbia, SC in 1959, and the University of South Carolina in 1963. After graduation, he was accepted into a Department of Defense computer programming training course at Warner Robins Air Force Base where he was one of the pioneers of computer programming. He went onto work as a Computer Programmer for the US Army at Kreuzberg Kaserne, Zweibrucken Germany for four years where he traveled extensively through Europe and was married in the Isle of Wight, UK. He settled in Poquoson, VA with his family where he lived for 26 years and worked for the 1912th Computer Systems Group at Langley Air Force Base. At Langley, he was known as an avid tennis player and was frequently number one and two on the tennis ladder. He retained a passion for tennis throughout his life. Upon retirement in 1997, he moved to the Melbourne Beach, FL area where he was an active member of the Fee Avenue Tennis Club, served on the board of his condo association for nine years holding various officer positions, including President, attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and met the love of his life Kate Fowkes. He is survived by his beloved partner Kate Fowkes; daughters Sharon Burns (Chris) and Alison Wagner (Will); grandchildren Evelyn and Audrey Burns, Dylan and Anna Wagner; sister Jonnie Tiller and nephew Jon Tiller. A memorial service will be held on August 16th at 1:30pm at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home 560 Montreal Ave. Melbourne, FL. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.davisseawinds.com.
