Eugene Neves LAKE WATEREE - Funeral service with military honors for Mr. Eugene Edgar Neves, age 79, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11-12 p.m. at Pope Funeral Home, 521 S. Congress Street in Winnsboro, SC 29180. Mr. Neves passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice Bans Neves. He was an Eagle Scout, loved all sports, especially Redskins football, and was an accomplished artist. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. He started his 22 year military career in the US Navy and continued in the US Army, including service in Vietnam, and retired as a Major in the US Army in 1979. In addition to his loving wife of 34 years Mrs. Mary Jane Tice Neves, he is survived by one son, Eugene Neves; two daughters, Lisa Woldt and Patricia Carprew; one stepdaughter, Doris Barger; two brothers, Joseph G. Neves and Arthur G. Neves; three sisters, Constance M. Gonsalves, Ruth A. Clements and Naomi E. Kiggins; and eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the Parkinson's disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, NY, NY 10018. Pope Funeral Home is assisting the Neves family.
