George William Lewis COLUMBIA- George William Lewis born June 2, 1963, in the Bronx, N.Y. passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 Mr. Lewis grew up in Miami, Fla. and graduated from the University of Miami, Fla. A 40 year veteran of the airline industry as Director Cargo Revenue Accounting with National Airlines; Director Passenger Revenue Accounting with Pan American Airways and Manager Revenue Accounting with Air South. Also employed as Credit Manager with Doral Country Club in Miami and Office Manager of his son's architectural firm in Columbia, S.C. Mr. Lewis served in the US Air Force Reserve for six years. He was a lifelong NY Yankee fan having attended his first game at Yankee Stadium in 1946. Mr. Lewis was an avid University of Miami fan as well. His favorite moments were spent coaching his two son's Youth League baseball and football teams at Tamiami Park in Miami, Fla. and attending his grandson's baseball and football games in Columbia. Mr. Lewis was an avid golfer for over 40 years. Mr. Lewis was predeceased by his father James David Lewis and mother Dorothy W. Lewis both of Miami, Fla. Mr. Lewis is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years, Annette West Lewis; Sons Donald J. Lewis (Rena) of Tampa, Fla.; Jeffrey M. Lewis (Sharon) of Columbia; daughter Valerie Lewis Durkin (Michael) of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Mitchell T. Lewis of Tampa, Fla., Connor Lewis of Columbia, Jake W. Lewis of Columbia, Madison H. Lewis of Tampa, Kyle P. Durkin and Olivia M. Durkin of Marietta, Ga. Memorial Services to be held at Ebenezer Lutheran Church Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 12:00 noon with visitation following at the home of Jeff and Sharon Lewis.
