George Epting

George Epting NEWBERRY - George Ray Epting, 94, of Newberry, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born on August 4, 1923 in Lexington County, he was a son of the late George "Tab" and Daisy Long Epting. He was a very active 86-year member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church and had the honor of being the oldest male member. He served his church in many capacities including as the Sunday School Treasurer for thirty years and was a former member of the Congregational Council. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Lindsay (Johnny) of Newberry and Debbie Reynolds (Raymond) of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Benji Lindsay, Ryan Lindsay (Shannon), Robin Vance (Allan), Vivian Robinson (Drew), and Doug Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ben, Grace, Amelia, Weston, Laura Rae, and Ella; sister Katherine Hawkins; brother-in-law, Kenneth Floyd; and sister-in-law, Anita Dominick. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian Floyd Epting; and siblings, Leland Epting, J.D. Epting; Rose Lester; and Bobby Epting. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Silverstreet Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Harry J. Crout. Memorials are suggested to Silverstreet Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 120 Church Street, Silverstreet, SC 29145. Whitaker Funeral Home of Newberry is assisting the family.
