WALNUT COVE — Margaret "Greet" Smith Mitchell, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday Night, June 6, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was born on September 23, 1932 in Langton Ontario, Canada, to Lurico and Nannie Fagg Smith. "Greet" was a charter member of Friends Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant of God, and a precious devoting wife and loving mother. She worked at R.J. Reynolds Brook Cove and was a private caregiver.
A 2:00pm Funeral Service was held, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Friends Baptist Church, with Rev. Junior Stevens and Rev. Roger Hall, officiated, burial followed in the church cemetery.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Pastor Ralph Mitchell; one grandson, Justin Mitchell; one son-in-law, Roger Isom; 5 brothers, Les, Bud, Chester, Eugene and Ray Smith; and 1 sister, Lillian.
Surviving is her loving children, Bonnie Jean Jobe and husband Larry of Gibsonville, Cathy Lane Taylor And husband Eddie of Walnut Cove, Elizabeth Camilla Gibson and husband Johnny of King, Pamela Gail Isom of King, Mary Anne Bennett and husband LeRoy of Walnut Cove, Daniel Wade Mitchell and wife Cindy of Lexington and David Ralph Mitchell And wife Helen of King. 9 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 12 step grand children; 2 step great great grandchildren. 2 sisters, Virginia Smith of Walnut Cove and Dot Barrett of Germanton, and a host of relatives.
The family received friends from 6-8pm Monday evening, June 8, 2015 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter Mary Anne Bennett.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Stokes County Hospice staff and Dr. Dana Winn and all of the in-home caregivers for their kind and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends Baptist Church, 1344 Mountain Rd, Walnut Cove, NC 27052 or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
