Church, Russell - Godfrey  
GODFREY - Russell D. Church, 86, died at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family He was born July 14, 1928 in Grafton, Ill., the son of the late Thomas and Elsie (Plummer) Church. He was a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force as a senior in flight refueling operator. He was a member of the first squadron to conduct in flight refueling. He attended Shurtleff College in Alton. He retired from Laclede Steel as the maintenance yard superintendent after 36 years of service. On June 12, 1954 in Alton he married Norma Jean Grenzebach and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Stephanie Hein and her husband, Austin of Littleton, Colo.; one grandson, Eero Hein of Littelton, Colo.; one brother, William Church of Grafton; and two sisters, Virginia Britt and Ida Mae Watson both of Grafton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Thomas Church. Visitation from 11 a.m. until time of funeral at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, with Reverend Debra Hoertel to officiate. COOK TROY — Dolores June Cook, 84, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m.Wednesday, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Staunton. Pitchford logo ERMA COOPERIDER WOOD RIVER — Erma Cooperider, 91, passed away at 10:18 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born on March 16, 1924, in Pleasant Hill, Ill., the daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha (Cloninger) Wintjen. Survivors include: one son, Gary Cooperider of Wood River, two granddaughters, Erica Riedisser and her husband Jason of Rosewood Heights, Morgan Cooperider of St. Louis, two great-grandsons, Ethan Riedisser, Cooper Rider Riedisser, one sister, Dene Lopez of Alton, one brother, Gene Wintjen of Carrolton, Ill., and nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other extended family. She was formerly employed at Olin Corp. as a machine operator for 36 years prior to her retirement. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of East Alton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Cooperider, and one sister: Laverne Iler. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Burial will follow at Noble Cemetery in Otterville, Ill. Photo WILLIAM 'BILL' COSTELLO CARLINVILLE — William L. "Bill" Costello, 68, of Carlinville, died Thursday, May 21, 2105 at his home. Bill was born Nov. 12, 1946, to C. Lawrence Costello and Marie Dunn. He married Sue Ann Lambert in Carlinville, and spent 37 years as a devoted husband. Bill worked for Shell Oil Refinery in Wood River, for 33 years. He was a member of the local Moose Lodge #1259, The Eagles of Alton, The John L. Meyer VFW and the American Legion. He loved to travel; for 13 years he and Sue Ann have spent their winters in Texas and part of their summers in Crosslake, Minn. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Sue Ann, daughter, Kathleen Marie (Costello), (husband Mike) Shetka, three stepsons, Greg, Geoff and Mark Warren, seven grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, Mellanie, Daniel, Brandy, Cody and Kelsey, two great-grandchildren, Derek and Caleb, niece, Kathy (Peter) Berini, brother, Paul (Mary Lou) Karr, and many other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Joe, and sister, Patricia. A visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Heinz Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heinz Funeral Home with Father Angel Sierra officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Celtic Hospice or Macoupin County TAILS. EDWARDSVILLE - William Thornton Craft, 74, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1940, in White Sulphur Springs, West Va. to the late Leonard Thomas and Wilda Edna (Saunders). The U.S. Army veteran worked for many years for Union Pacific Railroad and retired as a Terminal Operator. He is survived by two daughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte "Shotsie" (Mulligan) Craft. Services are pending at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory.
